Bart Windrum

Bart functioned as a key family member and medical proxy during the demise of his parents in 2004 and 2005. Ongoing disturbing and harmful experiences during each of those times inspired Bart to examine, research, contemplate, and clarify the nature of hospitalized dying in America from the patient-family perspective.

During the development of Notes from the Waiting Room, Bart authored The Option to Die in PEACE: Patient Ethical Alternative Care Elective, one of thirty-one healthcare initiatives accepted by Colorado’s Blue Ribbon Commission for Healthcare Reform. Bart has testified before several committees of the Colorado legislature.

Prior to authoring books on and speaking about end-of-life matters, Bart engaged in (in reverse chronology): software technical writing, stand-up software training, ergonomic stretching program design and workshops, software user interface design, commercial graphic design, various stints in the printing industry, and music performance as a fusion drumkit drummer.
